'WHEELS AND WAVES'; GETTING THERE

Thursday:  London to Santander (Spain) via ferry, then Santander to Chateau Brindos (Biarritz, France) to set up for the Southsiders M.C. 'Wheels and Waves' tribal gathering for the weekend...

Starting in rainy London, all gussied up for the Queen's Jubilee, and plenty of road blockages
Traveling south in the DiCE magazine van to Portsmouth for the Brittany ferry service, with an overnight line to Santander, Spain
Leaving the grey shores of England for sunny Spain...
The Spanish coastline appears from the dining room...Brittany Ferries have great food, and the boats are surprisingly well-appointed
My traveling buddies; Matt Davis from DiCE and artist Conrad Leach...we took the van to carry Conrad's art for the Wheels and Waves exhibit, and the DiCE merch booth
Bunking it!
The subtle DiCE van, which attracted no attention...
Arrival at Chateau Brindos in Biarritz, our show venue.  Built in 1920 in high Mediterranean style.
Nice Moto Guzzi Ambassador graces the forecourt
Hot rods and sports cars too
One of the very many El Solitario M.C. motorcycles.  Last year in Toulouse, the Blitz boys were stars of the show...this year, the Spaniards overwhelmed us with a variety of super cool bikes, and their tremendous good spirit.
Dimitri Coste's flat-track BSA B50
Nice Lancia Fulvia rally car
David from El Solitario MC, and his Triumph...one wonders what might have come from Spain to Biarritz in that tank...
Johnathan of Death Traps MC, my homie from Sonora, CA.  He's taking the summer to ride around Europe on his Shovelhead old-school chopper.  Inexpensive moto-touring at its coolest...and he can really throw his chop around the corners... a Romantic figure.
BSA A10 pre-unit Scrambler...
This Ace '4' came up for sale at the auction on Saturday
Yet another El Solitario machine, using Velocette mufflers on a BMW twin - surely a first...
HD Shovelhead, boots, flowers
One of the auction bikes; home-built in the style of a 'Teens machine, with a lot of very nice period details.  I've seen some American versions of this idea; cobbled-up ohv Indian singles with home-made cylinder heads, in ca.1914 running gear
Variety!  Something for everyone...bikes from 1902 to 2012, and some very tasty cars
